Payson UMC gives out athletic shoes to local children at the beginning of each soccer and baseball season. Kids who have outgrown their shoes exchange them for a larger pair. The shoes that are collected are cleaned and sanitized by members of the church and recycled when the next season starts. The church also purchases some new shoes (and shin guards for soccer) as needed.
This program makes it possible for children to play sports who otherwise might not be able to afford new shoes each year.
